about one-pointed inc.

One-Pointed Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the cultivation of human flourishing. Through workshops, public projects, partnerships, and community-based initiatives, One-Pointed Inc. creates spaces where clarity, presence of mind, and personal development are restored.

THE setting

In a time shaped by fragmentation, overload, and disconnection, many feel the dire need to reconstitute the nature of the lived experience. Much can be said about the challenges facing society at large, and there is much to consider if we are going to see the changes so many desire. These changes happen within individuals, then institutions; we can benefit from the concerted focus on healthy human development.

One-Pointed Inc. exists to support the human conditions that make learning and creative development meaningful and engaging. Our work embeds the human sciences, contemplative practice, education, the arts, and community-based experience to create programs that serve communities, individuals, and institutions.

THE mission

One-Pointed Inc. aspires to promote the development of wisdom, creativity, and emotional well-being within individuals and institutions for the betterment of the whole society.

THE vision

By igniting and promoting the development of core institutional frameworks, there is not only hope for a better future, but an aspiration for a more meaningful now.  By shifting towards a conscientious focus on the lived experience, great promise rests in the power of even minor institutional changes. With effective modes of education and community development, human development can take a more meaningful turn. It starts with a person. Personal changes will echo within the wider community, and quickly within a culture. But people need institutions that inspire and support them. Without it, burnout is inevitable.

In this vision, individuals will continuously deepen an understanding of their own purpose and passions. But how?

Through our work, we hope to contribute to improved mental health amidst a widespread mental-health crisis. Through a concerted focus on the development of attention and emotional capacities in ourselves and others, something very powerful happens. We rediscover something within an instant.  Living a 'good life' is not something to aspire for; it is something to realize. This becomes immediately powerful. This re-contextualizes so much of what we do and why we do it. Our work, projects, and relationships can find realignment. Strain and stress can be redefined, and creativity and inspiration can find their proper place.

How we navigate complexity is ultimately determined by the health of our individual and collective psychology. It is the foundation of these states that deserves consideration. While good work is already being done in many places, there is a collective cry for help. Many people are hurting in their own way, and many are drowned by a lack of inspiration. Our vision is to turn that around through a one-pointed mission in helping people discover themselves.

This vision is attainable, one person at a time.

STEVEN LAWRENCE is the founder and director of One-Pointed Inc. He is a retired international teacher of humanities, a doctoral researcher in transpersonal psychology, and an artist. Steve is also a craftsman with 25 years of experience in construction, plumbing, heating, and artisanship. This experience sets the foundation for his work with One-Pointed Inc. He targets discussions around consciousness, attention, emotional regulation, and human flourishing, expressing the need for an emergent paradigm to overcome the challenges causing our personal and collective pain. With 12 years of classroom experience in both U.S. and international settings, he respects the mental, emotional, and physical strains placed on those responsible for another's development. As a business owner and institutional director, he appreciates the power of proper vision and effective action. As an artist, he embraces the emotional power of creativity and authentic expression. And as a student, he continues to appreciate good teachers.
